A bit about our presenter

• Manager of Vessel Operations, Michelle leads a team within AMSA responsible for implementing a proactive approach to safe vessel operations through the delivery of marine incident data management, analysis and reporting, safety education, industry liaison, operational policy development and implementation, crewing certification, seafarer welfare and authorisation of vessel traffic services. 
• ​​Michelle ensures that human factors input continues to be a core integral part of AMSA’s operational work programme into operational safety and associated interventions to continue to promote an operational safety culture. ​
• Michelle completed her doctorate in human factors from the University of Queensland, Master of Science in Marine Technology from the University of Newcastle (UK) and Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Malta.
• She currently holds an adjunct Associate Professorship position at the University of Queensland.
• Michelle is a Chartered Engineer with more than twenty years’ experience working in the maritime domain as an engineer, systems safety researcher and safety professional. Michelle is a frequent guest lecturer on maritime safety and human factors and has published extensively in this area including a book and book chapters.
