Title:  Bulk Solid Liquefaction during Marine Transport

Description:  The liquefaction of a bulk solid in a cargo hold can result in the cargo shifting and the loss of stability of a Vessel.  This hazard can be catastrophic.  In order to address the risks, there are a number of preventative and precautionary measures that can be taken.  These measures are detailed in the IMSBC Code.   Minton Treharne & Davies is a technical leader in the investigation of incidents involving cargo liquefaction.  The presentation provides some views on the technical matters related to liquefaction.

Presented by Dr Patrick Cook:  Dr Cook has lead a number of investigations into liquefaction and the potential for cargo liquefaction onboard vessels as well as leading the Melbourne based MTD Liquefaction Laboratory and MTD Bulk Solids Training Courses.
